What is the condition of the piano?

The sound quality remains very warm and deep. Structurally there are a few items of note: some corrosion in the duplex scaling, minor cracks in the soundboard and onset of rib separation. Proper humidity levels will prevent any changes in its condition.

Yes, an assessment was performed by Falcetti Pianos in Newton, MA. Below is a detailed breakdown by component:

  1. Soundboard

  • A couple small cracks on the top; not visible from the bottom.

  • Possible subtle rib separation near tail (not measurable with .010 feeler gauge).

  • Otherwise good.

  • Condition: Good.

  • Hammers require light filing/shaping.

  • A few loose flanges (not bad).

  • Sample repetition levers: 3–5 grams.
